Originating in Tunisia and Algeria, Deglet Nour dates are among the most widely distributed and beloved varieties in the world. They are distinguished by their elongated shape, warm hue, between amber and light caramel, and a semi-soft texture, perfect for snacking and cooking. They are picked when they reach full maturity, then dried naturally and stored at a controlled temperature to maintain their freshness. Deglet Nour are considered everyday dates – versatile, easy to integrate into any lifestyle and any menu.

Our date farm in Tunisia is Demeter certified. Biodynamic farming according to Demeter is a sustainable and holistic form of organic farming. It goes beyond the standards of conventional organic farming and treats the farm as a living system, in close connection with nature and the cosmos.

In biodynamic agriculture, the natural processes and rhythms of life are respected and encouraged. The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is strictly prohibited. Instead, the soil is improved through composting and natural preparations. Plants and animals are integrated into a closed cycle to create a sustainable and fertile environment.

Deglet Nour provides a balanced source of energy, being rich in easily digestible natural carbohydrates (fructose and glucose). They are richer in fiber (approx. 7 g/100 g), contributing to digestion and satiety. The minerals present – potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and iron – support muscle health, nervous balance and daily vitality. They contain B-complex vitamins and vitamin A, with beneficial effects on the skin and vision.

Thanks to their discreet taste and pleasantly firm texture, Deglet Nour dates are ideal for adding to granola, nut mixes, salads, associated with exotic dishes, couscous or tabbouleh. They combine wonderfully with citrus fruits, mint, seeds and roasted nuts or fine cheeses. In pastry recipes, they can replace refined sugar, being easy to chop or transform into a paste.
