Kholas is a small Saudi variety, considered rare and highly prized by connoisseurs. It is one of the most versatile varieties of dates, with a complex profile that varies depending on the time of harvest: the earlier they are picked, the creamier and softer they are, and the longer they are left on the palm, the denser the texture becomes, with a slight resistance to the bite.

The skin color ranges from light yellow to translucent amber, and a distinctive sign of ripeness is the phenomenon of "skin separation" - the easy separation of the skin from the pulp, specific to this variety. This detail is considered a defining feature of Kholas.

Saudi Arabia

Our partner farm in Saudi Arabia is located in the picturesque Al Ghat region, approximately 200 kilometers northwest of the vibrant capital Riyadh. Al Ghat offers ideal conditions for growing dates, with hot summers and mild winters.

The farm is a pioneer of organic farming in Saudi Arabia and was one of the first farms in the country to receive EU organic certification. Our Saudi farmer attaches great importance to environmental protection and the conservation of natural resources and has decided not to use chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

Many different varieties of dates are grown on the farm. We currently source 9 of our date varieties from this Saudi partner farm.

In addition to their unique flavor, Kholas dates are also excellent sources of energy and essential nutrients. They provide a generous boost of natural sugars, easily assimilated by the body, making them perfect in times of exertion or loss of tone.
